About the Role

Are you mechanically minded and excited by the prospect of applying your skills in a dynamic role? If yes, then the Technical Officer may be the perfect role for you!

We are currently seeking a Technical Officer with hands on experience in providing both technical and mechanical support.  As the Technical Officer, you will be the first point of contact for all maintenance, diagnostics, and fault repair issues.

Working closely within the Water Supply East team, you will oversee the monitoring and maintenance of automated, mechanical, and electrical systems in the Macalister Irrigation District (MID), ensuring optimal system efficiency.

As the Technical Officer, some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Oversee and maintain automation systems to ensure automated and SCADA controlled equipment operate efficiently to meet service and water saving targets.
  • Serve as the primary contact for SRW staff and contractors for all maintenance, diagnostics, and fault repairs.
  • Liaise with Operations and Maintenance staff to ensure automated systems performance targets are met.
  • Under general direction, plan, schedule & prioritise work activities.
  • Work proactivity as part of a small group of employees/contractors.
  • Identify and recommend system upgrades or modifications to enhance automation efficiency.

About you

The successful candidate for this position will be able to demonstrate some of the desired experience and abilities below:

  • Experience in technical and mechanical operations.
  • Proficiency in operating a wide range of tools, machinery, and equipment.
  • Experience in maintaining technical, electronic, or mechanical equipment, with some knowledge of automation systems including SCADA operations and diagnostics is desirable.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively and adapt to the needs of the team.
