Job Description

Are you passionate about tackling complex challenges? Do you enjoy problem solving? If yes, then the Dam Safety Engineer may be the perfect role for you!

Southern Rural Water is currently seeking a Dam Safety Engineer to join our friendly and motivated team. The Dam Safety Engineer plays an instrumental role in protecting the community from risks ensuring that dams, weirs and associated assets are managed in a safe and sustainable manner. In this role, you will apply your engineering expertise and project management skills to ensure compliance and implementation of comprehensive safety measures, making a real impact on the future of our water infrastructure.

As the Dam Safety Engineer, some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting Southern Rural Water to comply with ANCOLD Guidelines.
  • Assisting in the delivery of the Dam Safety Surveillance program.
  • Project managing Dam Safety Design reviews and other Dam Safety Engineering Capital Projects.
  • Provide engineering advice for dam safety, operation and maintenance issues.

If you have a background in civil engineering, experience in dam engineering and project management and the application of risk management, we would love to hear from you!

About you

The successful candidate for this position will be able to demonstrate some of the desired experience and abilities below:

  • Bachelor of (Civil) Engineering or higher is required.
  • Experience in Civil Engineering/Water Engineering is required.
  • Registered Professional Engineer of Professionals Australia, or working towards registration.
  • Knowledge in dam engineering with the ability to interpret, apply and communicate requirements of relevant policy and guidelines (ANCOLD Guidelines).
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to make well-informed, rational decisions based on available data and analysis.
