About the Role

Southern Rural Water is currently seeking a highly driven strategic leader to join our team as Manager Water Supply – East.

In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality water services to our irrigation and industrial customers through regulated supply systems. As the Manager Water Supply – East, you will oversee the Water Supply East workgroup, championing a positive and high-performing culture where staff feel supported, empowered, and set up for success.

You will bring a strong strategic mindset to the role, playing a key role in the development and implementation of Strategic Plans, Corporate and Pricing Plans, Risk Management as well as our Emergency Management Frameworks. Your leadership will directly influence operational performance, customer satisfaction, and the resilience of our service delivery.

As the Manager Water Supply - East, some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Oversee the Macalister Irrigation District operations and maintenance to ensure delivery of a reliable water supply.
  • Driving continuous performance improvement aligned with Southern Rural Water’s strategic goals: delivering great service, increasing water availability, maintaining affordable prices, and ensuring long term financial sustainability.
  • Accountable for a customer group of around 1,400 water shareholders, a recurrent operational budget of around $6.2M and capital expenditure of approximately $2M.
  • Interpreting government policy to develop practical solutions and operational procedures that provide timely accurate advice to customers, stakeholders and staff.
  • Positively influencing and resolving issues with customers and stakeholders when they arise, being solution orientated.

About you

The successful candidate for this position will be able to demonstrate some of the desired experience and abilities below:

  • Proven leadership capability with a clear, empowering approach and a commitment to fostering a high-performing team culture.
  • Sound understanding of operational and financial management, including budgeting and performance monitoring.
  • Strong judgement and decision making skills, with the ability to consult appropriately and align actions with SRW policies and regulations.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and make informed, evidence-based decisions.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading change, with the ability to inspire innovation and manage the impacts of transformation on teams.
