About the Role

Southern Rural Water currently have a fantastic opportunity for a Commercial Services Officer to join our Finance team. This newly created role is ideal for a motivated individual looking to step into a diverse, hands on, finance position.

Working closely and reporting to the Manager Commercial Services, the Commercial Services Officer will contribute across a wide range of functions including facilities, land governance, billing, debt management, and procurement. The role will also play an important part in supporting SRW’s digital transformation program, including the rollout of a new finance, procurement, and billing system in 2026.

We are looking for someone who is adaptable to changing priorities, works well under pressure, and brings a positive, team focused attitude with a willingness to support others. This role is ideal for someone with a broad range of finance capabilities, supported by experience in commercial and compliance functions.

As the Commercial Services Officer, some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting facilities management by processing purchase orders and invoices and assisting with document management for facilities projects.
  • Conducting land management activities, including freehold and crown land management and building leases.
  • Assisting the Facilities Coordinator with the administration of commercial and residential leases, including being the first point of contact for leases and occupational licence administration and enquiries.
  • During any period of absence of the SRW Revenue Officer, operate billing and debt collection functions in accordance with SRW procedures and policies.
  • Supporting procurement compliance by reporting and escalating issues and assessing compliance matters raised by Accounts Payable Officers in accordance with SRW procedures and control frameworks.

About you

The successful candidate for this position will be able to demonstrate some of the desired experience and abilities below:

  • Relevant qualification in Business Management, Procurement, Contracting or other relevant field (preferred).
  • Experience in fields such as land and facilities, commercial services, contract, procurement, project administration.
  • Strong administrative skills, including advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and experience coordinating minor works or contractor engagements.
  • Excellent problem solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to identify gaps or risks in processes and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, contractors, customers, and regulatory bodies.
