Southern Rural Water are currently seeking a Graduate Dam Safety Engineer to join our experienced and motivated team. Working across multiple dams, weirs, and associated assets, the Graduate Dam Safety Engineer is important to ensuring the safety, sustainability and longevity of our assets. In this role, you will help to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, contributes to our obligations under Victoria’s Statement of Obligations, and assists in positive risk management outcomes.
As the Graduate Dam Safety Engineer, some of your responsibilities will include:
Assisting Southern Rural Water to comply with ANCOLD Guidelines and other relevant Victorian legislative and regulatory requirements relating to dams.
Assisting in the delivery of the Dam Safety Surveillance and Operation & Maintenance Inspection program.
Review, interpretation, analysis and presentation of dam safety surveillance and monitoring data.
Supporting the management of Dam Safety Design reviews and other dam safety-related investigations.
Supporting the update of Dam Safety Emergency Plans (DSEPs) and Flood Plans.
Assisting with investigations and preparation of dam safety related problem statements for submission into the Capital program prioritization process.
Availability to travel to other SRW offices and sites, with occasional overnight stays required.
Desired Skills and Experience
About you
The successful candidate for this position will be able to demonstrate some of the desired experience and abilities below:
A recently completed, or expected to be completed this year, tertiary qualification in civil engineering (or equivalent), with eligibility for Graduate Membership of Engineers Australia..
Broad understanding of engineering principles from tertiary studies. Interest in gaining an understanding of the water industry, particularly dams.
Strong organisational and time management skills and the ability to multi-task and handle multiple demands.
Ability to think critically, have good attention to detail and suggest ideas for continuous improvement of processes under supervision.
